Condemnation

You failed what was entrusted to your care.
You say you tried. Perhaps you even did.
But trying wasn't good enough. Beware
Of sunlight falling on the things you hid.
They look so mean and small when brought to day;
You are ashamed, and so you well should be.
You plead your case, excuses limp and gray—
You don't believe yourself, so why should we?

You failed in love, you failed in decency;
Would now you dare attempt to justify
With rationale far from apology
These failures you no longer can deny?

Take on full force the weight of what you've done.
