The Veil
Love, if you cross the veil before I do,
Love—love with all your being—love toward me,
Across that dark abyss, mortality—
And maybe—maybe—we can tear in two
The veil with our bright longing, and conjoin
This world and that—end death—change time and space
Into a kinder form, a softer grace,
Where Charon works for love instead of coin.
Don't fear, without me, under that dark sky;
Your sun shall be our love, your torch my name.
And you shall show the dead such living flame
They'll tear down Hades at your battle cry.
All worlds united, to your arms I'll fly
There, there to stay, till death itself shall die.
